It’s not a complicated job to attach a snowthrower to your Craftsman, Husqvarna, Ariens, Poulan or Jonserd Tractors. This is just a quick article going through where to get the snow blowers and a spare copy of the manual. It takes about 2 hours the first time and 30 minutes after that.
Yes! There Is a Video!
Let’s start with the manuals.
Craftsman 24837 42 inch Craftsman/Husqvarna Snow Thrower Manual
Craftsman 25840 50 inch Craftsman/Husqvarna Snow Thrower Manual
Agri-Fab Snow Thrower Adapter Kit: Parts kit to convert 24837 snow thrower to fit 2006 and older Craftsman lawn and garden tractors. These tractors have two deck supports in the front. It will go back to about 1999 tractors Garden Tractor Snowblower Mounting Kit
Here is a chart that lists Craftsman tractors. Any tractor that lists a snow blower other than the 24837/25840 needs the adapter kit above.
Husqvarna also has a specific snow thrower. It is built by the same company for them as the Craftsman snow blowers.
531 30 71-69 42 inch. Fits all 2006, 2007, 2008 Husqvarna Tex-style tractor frames (LT, YT, & GT). This includes all current cast iron front axle Craftsman, Husqvarna, Ariens, Poulan or Jonserd Tractors. Will not fit old GT rail-type frames. Will not fit 2005 version and prior. These are the correct Shear Bolts OEM-710-0890 MTD Snow Thrower Shear Pin Replaces 710-0890 2004 & Prior Yes, they say MTD but they are the correct ones.
I really like these tire chains.

Hello ..cool info here ! Still confused as..well you know.
I have a craftsman GT6000 ..944.605290…mfg1995
Is the 48624846(X) the only one that will fit?
Paul
Hi Vance, There are no cross-reference charts for Sears Ca. tractors so I can’t say for sure – BUT that’s one of the first 486 snowblowers. The 46 inch was only used until 2003 and there were no other snowblowers sold for the Craftsman GT tractor during that time.
Matthew
Looking to upgrade my old craftsman tractor to a new Husqvarna . Have a craftsman snow blower model 486.248381 that still works. (Its12 years old) Wondering your experiences with putting old blower on new tractor and if it’s at all possible. Also any does or don’t would be appreciated.
Paul
Hi Matthew, Husqvarna has their own snowblowers and Craftsman had their own snowblowers. Even though they were probably the same, no one has ever made a cross-reference chart to see if a Craftsman will fit on a Husqvarna. On top of that, since Husqvarna completely redesigned their tractors this year we don’t know if ANY old equipment will mount to the new frame.
In addition, was the snowblower mounted on a tractor with one center rod that attached the deck to the tractor, or were there two rods that went to the deck on the front of the tractor. If there was one rod there might be a chance it might fit – but – if there are two rods then it WILL NOT fit. (the snowblower originally came with both types of mounts but most people threw away the mounts they didn’t use.)
Here is a link to the snowblower manual to explain this more: I have no access to any information on the Canadian Craftsman products. Sears.ca always had a tight lid on any info including parts and operator’s manuals. When they closed their doors it disappeared. That said,The tractor was made by Husqvarna
Matthew
Thanks for quick response Paul. Next question , is my older snowblower still compatible with a newer craftsman.
Almost feel like I should just get new blower with new tractor not sure of life expectancies of a snowblower it is 12 years old not sure how much longer it’ll last. Live in northern Michigan so machine gets used frequently during winter months.
Just looking for friendly opinion.
Thanks in advance
Matthew
Paul
Hi Matthew, The Sears Craftsman made after 2015 and the current Craftsman now owned by Stanley, Black & Decker are all made by MTD. The Sears model number prefix is 247. So your snowblower will not fit any of them.
You snowblower only fits Craftsman tractors with the 917 prefix and I recommend only attaching one to a garden tractor style.

I have a 2017 gth52xls husqvarna tractor. I’m looking to find what used craftsman snow blower will fit. There are some for sale and will not buy unless I know they fit. Help?
Paul
Hi Joeseph, There are no cross reference charts for that. Craftsman only fit Craftsman and Husqvarna had their own snowblowers also.
Bob Witte
Hi Paul, Thanks for getting back to me. it is the big mystery as I have found as well. The frame mounts are identical as well as the mounting brackets for the snow blower. The issue is the transfer case mount at the drive pedal assembly. I think i have the fix to make it work . I have the latest latest fit kit (after 2006) and a slight modification to the mounting bracket should do the trick. I’ll keep you posted.
Camden
Hi Paul I’ve got a craftsman pro series 7800 built by mtd I’m not sure what snowblower to get can you help thanks
Paul
Hi Camden, No, I can’t help. The fit-up charts I have only have the Husqvarna built tractors listed. I don’t know where to send you other than try the guys over at mytractorforum.com
Roger
Which model snow thrower should i get fir craftsman t310? Thanks
Paul
Hi Roger, The only snowblower that fits the Craftsman Tractors sold at Lowes is the snowblower sold at Lowes
CRAFTSMAN 42-in Snow Thrower
Item #1613873Model #CMX-GZ-BF-71-24837
You will also need the rear wright kit and rear tire chains.
Bob Witte
Hi Paul I have a Husqvarna model 960430311. Can i mount a Craftsman 486.248381 snow blower?
Paul
Hi Bob, I don’t know if Husqvarna changed their mounting positions on the new tractors – and there is no one who seems to know…
That said, no one has a cross-reference for mounting one brands snow blower onto another brand.
Your snowblower is pretty old. It originally came with two sets of mounts. One set for pre-2006 Craftsman and another set for post-2006. If you have the post-2006 mounts you can see if the bolt holes will line up on your new frame. If you need the manual you can get it here: Craftsman 486.248381
Kevin Steuerwald
Hi I have a craftsman model 917.288700 will the Husqvarna 42 inch snowblower attachment fit?
Paul
Hi Kevin, The latest model Sears Craftsman (486 prefix) and the current Agri-Fab snow blowers (for Sears/Craftsman) fit your tractor. The Craftsman snowblowers sold at Lowes will not fit. I don’t know about Husqvarna 42 inch snow blowers. They have had quite a few different ones over the years and there are no conversion charts available to mount them on different brands of tractors.
dave
hi paul.. in have un poulan pro 2006 db24h42.. and i have un snow blower mtd 190-624-000 …what is the front mounting kit i needÉ
Paul
Hi Dave, 1. They two products are not compatible. The Poulan Pro and the MTD are made by two separate companies. 2. I don’t remember Poulan Pro ever offering a snowblower attachment so there may not be any mounting holes in the frame for an Agri-Fab snow blower. 3. I suggest checking with a Poulan Pro dealer to see if there is a snow blower available.
Chris
Hi Paul. I have a 2005 Husqvarna GTH2754 and can not seem so pin down what snowblower attachment will fit. My model # is 96023000400. I am so tired of reading “this will not fit 2005 and older”. Please help and thank you in advance.
Paul
Hi Chris, I’m going to assume your tractor has 4 mounts/rod connecting the deck to the tractor lift. The newer tractors only have three – Two in the rear and one in the front.
That makes finding a new snowblower almost impossible to find. i.e., the current Husqvarna snow blower won’t fit.
The snowblower that was designed for your tractor was the Agri-Fab Model No. LST 42A. I don’t know if the 42B will work but the 42C and the current Agri-Fab will not work. http://www.agri-fab.com/Portals/0/Manuals/LST42A.pdf
Shane A Rivet
I have a 2015 Ariens 936052 42 in. 19 hp kohler hydrostatic riding lawn tractor looking for a comparable snow blower, any thoughts
Paul
Hi Shane, I’m not aware the Ariens ever sold a snowblower for that tractor. The tractor was made for Ariens by Husqvarna but I don’t know if the frame had the mounting holes in it for mounting a snowblower. I suggest talking to a good Husqvarna dealer and see if their cross-reference sheets will help.
Shane A Rivet
Hi Paul, well the 2015 Husqvarna YTH1942 is the Ariens (960460058) A19KA42 now to find the snow blower attachment that fits this unit
Kyle
Hi Paul, I have a 2020 Craftsman T110 (Model 13AN77XS093). I have the opportunity to pick up a Craftsman 24838 thrower attachment. Will this mount up? I know the MTD 190-032 is the “correct” listed attachment.
Paul
Hi Kyle, unfortunately, the Craftsman you have sold by Stanley, Black & Decker (SBD) will not fit ANY mounted equipment that was sold by Sears. That said, even though SBD makes no distinction the tractor you have is too “light” to handle a snowblower. The welded tube front axle, frame and transmission are not strong enough. You can put the snow blade on it but I don’t recommend the snow blower.
Zach
Paul,
I recently purchased a Dixon D25KH48 lawn mower. Looking at the model number i believe it is a 2010 model (96046002000) I know Dixon was purchased by Husqvarna so maybe a blower that works for Husqvarna will work for this. Basically I am trying to find a snowblower attachment that will work for my model mower. Any help is appreciated.
Thanks
Paul
Hi Zach, Yes, your tractor is just a Husqvarna GT painted Blue. The current Husqvarna 42 inch snowblower has the brackets to fit the older frames. It should fit right up.
Shawn
Hey Paul, I recently purchased a Husqvarna 22/46. I’m wondering if a Bercomac snowblower would fit? Model number is c15161172
Thx
Paul
Hi Shawn, I suggest contacting Beromac at https://us.bercomac.com/taxons/category/snowblower/snowblower-for-l-g-tractor. They will be able to tell you what snow blower and what mounting kit you need.
Taylor
Hey Paul, I have a craftsman 917 288031 tractor. Could you please tell me my options for an available snow thrower? Thank you!
Paul
Hi Taylor, There are no snowblower options for that riding lawnmower. Why? It is an entry-level riding mower – the frame is very thin and won’t hold up to having a 300 lb snowblower on the front and a few hundred pounds of weight on the rear. And, the front axle is a welded steel axle, not the cast-iron axle required to handle the weight of a snowblower.
You can put the Craftsman 71-24441 snow blade on it but you will need weight and chains if you get more than two inches of snow.
Taylor
Thanks for the super-fast response!! I am new to lawn tractors and come from push mowing my lawn. I can’t believe how confusing this can be trying to distinguish what is compatible with what. On my lawn tractor (under the hood) there’s a sticker that lists a part number for a snowthrower #24838. Is this a generic sticker that craftsman put on all their mowers? Thank you again for taking the time to answer my questions and giving me the options for a plow!
Paul
Hi Taylor, Yes, the 24838 has the correct mounting brackets to fit all 917. tractors built from 2004 to 2015. But, that doesn’t mean you should install the snowblower on certain models.
Specifically, Sears-Craftsman always had a line of inexpensive “lawn tractors.” They were cheap ($800-$1400) and meant for people who just wanted to mow their lawn. They had lightweight frames and welded front axles. Your’s is one of those models. I’ll guarantee the snowblower will fit but you won’t be able to lift the snowblower more than an inch off the ground and after a few years the front axle will break, the front spindles will bend or break and/or the frame will crack. In addition, your tractor would need rear wheel weights and chains – Sears never made the wheel weights for your rear tires.
Sears-Craftsman also made a “yard tractor” series and a “garden tractor” series. These models had the cast-iron front axle, larger tires, and heavier frame/components to handle that heavy snowblower.
David Wuthenow
Hi Paul,
I’ve been searching, but to no avail. I have a craftsman snowblower attachment 486.248 and I have a deal to buy a Cub Cadet Super LT1554. Do you know if the two are compatible? I know the lawn deck is bigger on the Cadet, but don’t know if this will be a problem. Thank you for any help you may provide
Paul
Hi David, In general, you need a Cub Cadet snowblower from that era (2005-2008) for your Cub Cadet LT 1554.
The 486 snowblower is for a Craftsman made by Husqvarna. You don’t have the complete model number for the snowblower for me to check what it will fit on. (486.12345)
Joseph Walton
Hi Paul, I have a Craftsman Garden Tractor GT 6000 Model 917.250261. I bought this last week and it came with a snowblower attachment that does not have a model number or any information on it at all actually. I was curious if you know what models of snowblower attachments fit this tractor. If I have that information I should be able to figure out which one I have and go from there. Thanks in advance, your forum is very valuable.
Paul
Hi Joeseph, That’s an old tractor – probably around a 1994-5. Measure the snowblower width. If it’s 44 inches the snowblower is probably a Haban. Haban has been out of business since 1997.
Nothing else will fit that tractor.
There are still a few parts available for the tractor. Here is a link to the parts lists: Craftsman tractor Model # 917250261
Joseph Walton
Okay, Thanks a lot. Very much appreciated!
Neil Stewart
Hi Paul, I’m in Laval, Quebec Canada. I have a driveway at my cottage around 300 feet long. Oh, I noticed I made a mistake with the model number. It’s 944.606951
Paul
Hi Neil, I don’t have snowblower fit-up charts for Sears Canada. That said, Bercomac.com will be able to cross-reference your tractor to fit one of their snow blowers. That said,
If your lawnmower deck has only one mounting rod on the front (2006 and later) the current 42 inch Craftsman or Agri-Fab snowblower will fit. A 50 inch should also fit.
A 40 inch, 44 inch, and 46 inch Sears Craftsman snowblower WILL NOT FIT!
Ricardo Gutierrez
I have a Craftsman 247.204450 garden tractor. What is the biggest snowblower I can attach? I can’t find the Craftsman 24837 12″ Dual-Stage Snowblower Attachment anywhere for sale near me so I’m looking for other options that will fit with no issues.
I thank you in advance for you help.
Paul
Hi Ricardo, The only other manufacture who makes a snow blower for the Craftsman is Bercomac. It’s a heavy-duty snowblower.
You can go to their website, figure out what you want and then use their dealer locator to find a dealer to purchase it from. Bercomac snow blowers
MATTHEW THOMSON
I have a Craftsman 917.272680 lawn tractor will a MTD 190-823 snowblower fit it
Paul
Hi Matthew, No, a 917 craftsman is made by Husqvarna. Any MTD made snow blower will not fit.
Roy Ward
Hi Paul
I picked up a craftsman snowblower assembly model 486.248374 recently
Want to try and put it on my cub cadet
It’s a xt1 46” anything special or specific I need to look for? Thanks so much.
Paul
Hi Roy, The 24837 snowblower attachment is designed for a Husqvarna built Craftsman lawn tractor (Model number starts with 917.)
At one time there was an adapter kit (71-11904) that would allow it to fit the Craftsman Pro tractors made by MTD.
You have to have that adapter kit to make this snowblower work on a Cub Cadet. That kit is no longer available and impossible to find.
That said, AgriFab made the snowblower. I suggest contacting them and asking if they have an adapter kit to install the snowblower on an MTD built tractor.
Branden
Hi Paul, Sears is selling a Craftsman 68030 Snow Thrower Mounting Kit, item # 07111904.
Very similar to the adapter kit # for mounting the 24837 to the MTD mowers. Do you know if this is the same kit your referencing used to be available or is it different?
Paul
Hi Branden, The 68030/11904 mounting kit is designed to attach the 24837 snowblower to the Craftsman Pro tractors with the 247 (MTD) model number prefix. So it should also work on the 2015 and newer Cub Cadet and Troy-Bilt Super Bronco tractors.
Other MTD lawn tractors use different frames so it probably won’t fit. It will NOT fit Craftsman Lawn Tractors or MTD tractors with the tube/welded front axle.
This article was written in 2011 so the mounting kit referenced is used to attach the 24837 to 2006 and older 917 (Husqvarna) garden tractors.
Nelson
I have a craftsman snow thrower for a craftsman tractor model number 486.248392 it is on my YT 4000. Model number 917.273643 serial number 043004A005981looking to buy a used GT 5000 model number 917.276102. Serial number 081004B002332 will my snow thrower fit the GT 5000
Paul
Hi Nelson, I don’t actually know. Your 40-inch snowblower was made for tractors 2004 or older. The GT5000 is a 2005 and the snowblower designed for it is a 42 inch. The belts and lift linkages would be the biggest differences.
Jeff S
hello. i have a 2003 917.273520 craftsman lt 1000. i’m looking to get a snow thrower for it. i believe i need the 486.24837 blower. most people selling these do not have or may only have some of the mounting brackets. if they do have all the brackets will the fit up with my tractor. where could i go to get the mounting hardware i need.
also would any other model snow thrower work on my tractor. i see other variances of the 486.248…
thanks
Paul
Hi Jeff, the 486.24837 is the right one. Other models will not have the right brackets.
You can get the assembly manual and figure out what parts you need here: https://shareasale.com/r.cfm?b=626432&u=308056&m=54365&urllink=https%3A%2F%2Fwww%2Esearspartsdirect%2Ecom%2Fmodel%2F1b373pma95%2D000247%2Fcraftsman%2D48624837%2Dsnowblower%2Dattachment%2Dparts&afftrack=
Steve
Hey Paul,
Great site, thanks for the help. I purchased a used 486.24838 snow thrower (mfr’d 2008) in hopes of fitting it to my 247.288853 lawn tractor (mfr’d 2013) only to find out the mounting brackets have changed. Any idea a mounting kit to buy for this? I contacted Sears Parts Direct but am getting conflicting info, would love to verify vs something in writing from Craftsman before spending the money and wait on a kit that does not fit. I was first assured that kit 71-24831 would work, but later was told that it would not. HELP!! Thanks, Steve in CO
Paul
Hi Steve the 24831 kit is designed to mount the 24837 snowblower to a 2006 or older 917 craftsman (Husqvarna built)
The correct mounting kit can be found on the 2015 Sears Fit-up chart. It is part number 071-11904. Good luck finding it though. I suggest contacting Agri-Fab and see if they have any kits in the warehouse. (They made the snowblower and the mounting kit)
Dan
Hi Paul, i have a 1996 craftsman blower for my 1995 murray lawn tractor, will this fit?,
Paul
Hi Dan, Craftsman mounted snowblower only came with the brackets to fit a Craftsman tractor. I’m not aware there were snowblowers made for a Murry. So, no. It will not fit.
Walter Henney
Hi Paul, like so many I have done alot of confusing research. I have a DGS 6500 craftsman mod. 917.287462 and have available a a craftsman labeled 486.248371 snow blower will this combo work ?
Paul
Hi Walter, Congratulations! It will work! Here is the parts page for the snow blower. At the bottom of the page is the manual so you can verify that you have all the parts.
486.248371 snow blower parts and manual.
Kevin
Hi Paul – I’ve read elsewhere and you mentioned that the pre-2005 Craftsman frames are different.
I am hoping I’d be able to fit a 486.248463 46″ blower to a 917.289900 tractor. If I were to use the proper 2006+ mounting brackets (the ones that go on the SEARS recommended thrower) on the tractor, could I get the 248463 to attach?
Paul
Hi Kevin, Trying to match up old snow blowers to the right tractors is a complicated mess. Basically, most 42 inch and all 50-inch models can be fitted to a 2005 or later Craftsman Yard Tractor or Garden Tractor.
But, all 38, 40, and 46-inch snowblowers can not be fitted to them. The snowblower you have is a 46 inch. There are no brackets or adapters to make it work on your 2010 Yard Tractor.
keith
is the mtd 42″ snowthrower attachment oem190-032 compatable with 2012 sears lawn tractor YT series?
Paul
Hi Keith, If the model number of your Craftsman YT starts with 247 it should be.
Matt
Hi Paul, I bought a older craftsman model 486.24840 snow thrower and have a craftsman model 247.288851 lawn tractor. I am having a hard time finding mounting instructions for the model 247 lawn tractor. Originally the snow thrower was on a model 917 lawn tractor. Thankn you
Paul
Hi Matt, It won’t fit. A couple of problems why it won’t. 1. The snowblower is from 1998. It will fit 917 tractors from 1997 to 2004. Your tractor is about a 2011.
2. Your tractor has a welded front axle. It is strongly recommended that you don’t attach a snowblower because the axle will eventually bend and break. You need a Craftsman Lawn or Garden tractor with the cast-iron front axle. You also need rear weights and chains. Your rear axle is not strong enough to last with the barrel weight kit the snowblower came with.
Here is the manual for your snowblower: https://www.searspartsdirect.com/manual/52w1d8ujsu-000247/craftsman-486248400-snowblower-attachment
If you insist on installing a snow blower you need the newer 42 inch 486.24837 and the 486.24850 adapter kit.
Matt Holmio
Thank you for the information.
Matt Krusemark
I am looking at purchasing a snow blower that was on a 917.28861 tractor to install on my 917.276013 tractor. The model number of the blower is 486.248381. Sounds like there are quite a few differences in tractors. Will this work?
Paul
Hi Matt, The tractor it was on has a three point deck mount. If your lawn tractor has three-point deck it should fit (two points in the back of the deck and one point in the front. If your tractor has the four-point mount it won’t fit – unless the original owner of the snowblower kept all the extra parts they didn’t need. The snowblower came with all the parts for both a three-point and a four-point mount. Most people throw away the parts they don’t need.

hey paul i have a craftsman ys45oo with a 22hp briggs &stratton and i was wanting to attach a bercomac700210-0 to it , thoughts ?

Hi Keith, Go to the Bercomac website and ask them if it fits.
Ricardo Gutierrez
Hello, I have a Craftsman ProSeries 20444 54″ 26 HP V-Twin Kohler Riding Mower and I’m looking for a snowblower attachment for it. What model will fit this garden tractor?
I thank you in advance for your help in this matter.
Paul
Hi Richardo, The Craftsman 24837 12″ Dual-Stage Snowblower Attachment is the correct one.
Alex Mulvania
What snowblower can I put on my poulan pro model number 9601 20047 00
Paul
Hi Alex, The Agri-Fab 42 inch is the correct snow blower. Here is a link to the best price (Home Depot Link)
You will need rear tire chains and lots of rear weight to use this on your tractor.
Jacob LaBlanc
Hello, have a poulan pro 42″ mower and am looking to get a snowblower. Will a craftsman model 488.24853 fit it?
Paul
Hi Jacob, That snow blower was made for tractors built before 2006. It’s for tractors that have four mounting hangers on the mower deck. I assuming your Poulan Pro is a newer model with three deck hangers (one in front and two on the rear) It won’t fit.

hi i got a husq. yt 180 i need pullets to drive a berco snowblower
Paul
Hi Grant, Here is their website: https://bercomac.com/en/about-us/. They will be glad to help.
JAMES R BARRY
Hello Paul, and thanks in advance for your help.. I have a new Craftsman T110 tractior and a Craftsman 24837 snowthrower attachment, but the hardware does not fit. Is there an adapter kit for this tractor?
Paul
Hi James, this is a “whole new ballgame” The Craftsman T110 is made by MTD for (SBD) Stanley, Black and Decker. The is no direct correlation to the lawn tractors or tractor attachments sold by Sears. Will SBD make an adapter to fit a Sears Craftsman snowblower? I highly doubt it. If they do make a snowblower attachment it will be made for them by MTD.
Now – Your 24837 snow blower is made by Agri-Fab. I will talk to them this week and I’ll ask if they’ve been able to get the frame hole pattern for the new Craftsman/SBD.
Finally, I’m going to assume that your T110 is the same as a Troy-Bilt Pony. It’s a lightweight frame, welded steel axle, and lightweight transmission. It’s NOT designed to mount a snowblower to it. Sorry…
JAMES R BARRY
Wow, so there is not a way to get the attachment on the T110? It is very close to being able to fit, is it too heavy for the tractor?
Paul
Hi James, That’s correct. You have to go through Craftsman.com (now owned by Stanley, Black & Decker.) Yes, It’s too heavy. It will wreck your front end and most likely bend the frame over time.
JAMES R BARRY
Thanks a lot for your very quick help, Paul. Regarding the Craftsman T110, could I attach a snow plow blade?
Paul
Hi James, I talked to the vendor making the snow blade for SBD and they said one will be available for your tractor about Dec. 1st.
Matha
Hello. We have a craftsman YT 4000 24 hp model 917.288573. What are our best options for snow removal. Thank you!

Mulch Kit 33746
Snow blade 24441
Snow Thrower 24837

Jenna Reid
Hi Paul. I’m in Canada and have a Craftsman C459-60310. We want to get a snowblower for it but since Sears here is closed we can’t get a craftsman blower. Do you know of any other brands will work? Or if we can even put a snowblower on it?
Thanks!
Paul
Hi Jenna, Unfortunately Sears Canada never made information about their products available to the public. Since that info is not available I can’t use the model number to tell you who made it and what year it was made.
The later models were made by both Husqvarna and MTD. Each manufature had its own snowblower. An MTD snowblower will not fit on a Husqvarna built tractor or vise-versa.
Two manufatures did make snow blowers for Craftsman tractors that are still around. You can try contacting them. http://www.agri-fab.com/ and https://bercomac.com/. Bercomac is a Canadian company and I would contact them first.

Hey Paul, I have a Craftsman two stage snow blower model #48624839 2007 year that I used to use on a Poulan Pro tractor, the tractor is shot and I’m looking at replacing it. Can you give me a few different brands that you know will fit that model of blower so I can look for a used one? I found a Husqvarna YTH2348 for a good deal but I’m not sure if that blower will fit on it. Any help would be extremely appreciated!
Paul
Hi Kelby, If it fits on the Poulan Pro it should also fit on the YTH frame. From what I remember they both use the same frame.

Paul, I purchased a 2018 creftsman pros series lawn tractor with a 24hp V-Twin 46″ deck model 247.270421. A few months back I ordered a snowblower attachment from sears.com and after several notifications that the delivery has been delayed, My order has no been canceled because “this item is out of stock”. is there snowblower attachment that you recommend for my tractor?
Are they brand specific, or can i look towrard MDT or Husqvarna?
Thanks much
Paul
Hi Peter, Your tractor was made for Sears by MTD. MTD does have a universal snow blower kit that should work. Arnold 19A40024OEM MTD Genuine Parts 3-Stage Snow Thrower, 42″. I don’t know anyone who has installed this kit but the frame on your tractor is the same as on the Troy-Bilt, Columbia and Cub Cadet XT1.

Hi ron i have a 2012 craftsman lt1500 42inch deck 17.5hp will this snowthrower work for me if not what do you suggest
Paul
Hi Matthew, The LT1500 was not designed for a snowblower. The front axle and frame are too light. There are no mounting holes, etc. in the frame to accept any snowblower.
Michael Joseph Kotzer
Hi I have a craftsman model 247.288811 and was wondering if a craftsman 486248392 snowblower would work on it thanks
Paul
Hi Michael, No the snowblower was made for 2003ish Husqvarna made Craftsman. Your 2010ish tractor was made by MTD – BUT – your tractor was not made for a snowblower period. Your tractor is the base model – the frame is too light, the transmission is too light and the front axle is a lightweight welded tube. It wasn’t even made for a snowplow. Sorry….

I have a craftsman GS6500 917.27692 lawn tractor. I bought a used craftsman 42″ 486.248381 snowthrower. What parts will I need to mount it to my tractor? I did not get any hangers with the snowblower.
Paul
Hi Thomas. Here is the page on Searspartsdirect.com. The page I’m sending you to is the parts page for that snow blower. On the page there is a link to the manual. Cick on the link and download or read the manual. It will show you the parts you need for your lawn tractor.
Richie
I have a MTD, now the opposite of your previous comments, can I put a craftsmen snowblower attachment on my MTD Rider lawn mower? (3blades)
Paul
Hi Richie, No, there is no way to fit a Craftsman snow blower to a MTD riding mower.
Larry
Im able to purchase a snow blower head from a craftsman lawn tractor blower model # 842 240511 is it possible to install it on my craftsman lawn tractor model # 917.23810 . Is this possible and does it need a special installation kit. My current blower head on my tractor is a model 248373 date code 14276.
Paul
Hi Larry, It will not fit. Your tractor is about a 2004 and the snow blower you now have is the correct snow blower for it. The 842 snow blower was made sometime before 1995 and the company that made it, Haban, went out of business around 1995. The 842 snow blower ONLY fits tractors made in the early 90’s.
Matt
Thank you Paul!!
That is a bummer, what snow thrower should keep an eye out for that will work for my tractor?
Paul
Hi Matt, the current Husqvarna snow blower sold at the dealers will fit.
Matt
I have a Husqvarna YTH2348 Tractor – and a craftsman snowblower attachment 486.248392
I researched (but by no means a pro) and it seems that I can use these together?
I do not have the mounts that go on the tractor, what should I do? when I go to order individual parts they around $30-60 each part (I think it would be $300 just for the mounts) but then I see full kits (unsure if they would work) for $50-80.
Paul
Hi Matt, the kits are for mounting a 486 snow thrower made for a 917 (Husqvarna built) to a craftsman chassis 247 chassis (made by MTD). What you want to do is pretty much impossible because the snowblower is about a 2003 model and only fits Craftsman tractor made before 2005. Your tractor uses a completely different frame and there are no mounts that will adapt the old snowblower to a newer tractor.
Ronald Albert
Thanks for the quick reply Paul! Just curious how the deck mount would affect the snowblower as they are not used at the same time?…Thanks Ron
Paul
Hi Ronald, Sorry, the easy way to tell the difference in tractor frames is by the way the deck mounts. The old frames are shorter and the front attachment holes are different. The older frames require a different center mount plate, a shorter belt, and different front brackets then the new tractors with the 3-point deck mount.
Ronald Albert
Hi Paul my name is Ron. I like your site! I have a GT 5000 model 917.276072 I believe it’s a 2004. I want to mount a Berco snowblower. On their site they only list blowers for post 2006 Craftsman tractors so I wrote and asked if I could fit one to my tractor. They said only if my chassis was a step through design which mine is not. My question is this: Sears makes a kit #24831 which enables owners with pre 2007 Craftsman tractors to mount a new style craftsman snowblower. So if a Berco snowblower will fit a newer Craftsman tractor, why wouldn’t a Berco fit a Craftsman tractor fitted with the conversion brackets?? Thanks…Ron Albert
Paul
Hi Ron, Your model the deck has four hangers. The tractors after 2006 use only three. (one in the front)
The adapter kit should work.
Jim
I have a craftsman model 486.24838 snow thrower attached to my current Craftsman model 917.273800 tractor. I am going to purchase a new Craftsman Pro Series model 27042 tractor. Can I attach my snow thrower to the new tractor?
Paul
Hi Jim, Your snow blower is made to only fit lawn tractors with the 917. models numbers before 2006. You will need to purchase a new snow blower for the 247.27042 tractor.
Jason
Hello. I have a bit of a conudrum. I picked up an MTD snowblower attachment model OEM-190-823 for a good price. I have two Craftsman riders, and I’d like be able to mount it on one or the other. The first is an older Craftsman, model 917.255430. The other is a fairly newer Craftsman model 917.288512. Any chance you know if this will work and what mounting kits/hardware will I need? Thanks in advance! Jason.
Paul
The current Sears snow blowers come with the mounts to mount them to a 917 tractor. They also had a kit to attach a Sears Craftsman snow blower to 247 Craftsman lawn tractor. But there are no kits or ever had been a kit to mount a MTD snow blower to a Craftsman Tractor – either a 917 or 247 model.
Sorry, The brands want you to buy their attachments and we’ve never had the option to “cross-fit” like the 3-point rear hitch on sub-compact tractors allow you to do.
Ashton
Hello I have a Craftsman PGT9000 lawn tractor (289740) and I was recently offered a snowblower (248463) attachment in almost new condition. I know its not the one suggested to go on my tractor but I was wondering if there was a mounting bracket that I can get to make it work. Any help would be much appreciated.
Paul
Hi Aston, That snow blower was made for tractors produced before 2004. The brackets are all wrong. Unfortunately, there is no kit or mounting brackets to install it on your 2009 tractor. Craftsman completely changed the way the decks and snow blowers are mounted on the tractors in 2006.
I should further clarify. The 46 inch will not fit and there are no brackets available. Craftsman also switched to a 42 and 50 inch size after 2006.
Shawn
Will craftsman snow thrower model 24846 fit craftsman tractor model 917250560
Paul
Hi Shawn, It should. Here’s the manual for the snow blower: https://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/user-manuals/486248460-craftsman-parts-manual
Jan Johnson
I have a craftsman pro series mower 27042 and I cannot get the mounting kit for the craftsman 42 inch blower. What else is compatible?
Paul
Hi Jan, SNOWBLOWER BERCO 44″ NORTHEAST. This is a heavy duty snow blower and the “standard” in the industry. This is sold through your local dealer. You can use the dealer locator on the page to find one near you.
Leon
I’m having trouble getting the mounting kit for a sears tractor 917.272751, and snow thrower model 486.248463
Paul
Hi Leon, The 27275 only fits tractors with a four-link deck like yours. It comes new with the correct parts. There is no mounting “Kit” for it. By the way, this snow blower will not fit anything made after 2004.
If your snow blower is missing parts you can go to searspartsdirect.com to get the parts. They also have a free assembly manual if you are missing yours.

Does anybody know how to replace the limit switch on a snowblower attachment with electric lift?
Cliff
I am having a hard time finding mounting instructions for a snowthrower I picked up used over the summer. The only model number I can find on the thrower itself is c-151-61172-2. I have most of it figured out, what I am having most difficulty with is how the lift handle mounts on the right side. Or even the part number Sears will recognize.
Thank you
Paul
Hi Cliff, Is that a Canadian Snowblower? Anything for the Canadian Craftsman products are impossible to find info on. For some reason, Sears.ca felt that was “secret squirrel crap” and only they should have access. I have no record of it sold in the U.S. But when you Google it this comes up: Sears Model # C15161172-1 snowblower
Will Lane
Hi Paul, I have a Craftsman GT5000 garden tractor (917.275971) and a Craftsman (486.248381) snowblower. The mounts that I have do not match-up to my tractor. Sears said that snowblower was discontinued in 2010 and they are no help.
Paul
Hi will, Your tractor has 4 mounts on the deck. Tractors sold after 2006 have only 3-point decks. Your snow blower originally came with the right parts for your tractor but ended up being mounted on a new model with the 3-point deck. So, you can order parts but it will be expensive and a lot of work to figure out which ones you will need. You will need a new jackshaft plate, front mounts, belts and assorted nuts and bolts.
So go here: Model 486248381 | CRAFTSMAN ATTACHMENT Parts.
1. download the manual and read both sections on how to mount it on your tractor and then on a 3-point tractor. Figure out the different parts you need to make it work.
2. Then go back to that same link and order the parts. If you use this link you can then use this discount code PD2223 and get 10% off the order.
Good luck, if your snow blower has seen better days you may be better off just buying the new one. Just so you know the current Craftsman 42-inch snowblower sold at sears.com comes with both the 3-point and 4-point mounts. It will fit on your tractor.
Mike
Hello. I have a 2007 ys4500 (craftsman) 20hp lawn tractor. I’m looking to install a snow blower attachment model number 24579 don’t know the brand maybe haban. Any clue if. It will. Fit?
Paul
Hi Mike, A snow blower with the 486. prefix may fit. In your example, the nameplate would say 486.24579. But, there is no record of a 486.24579 snowblower ever being built.
Haban snow blowers only fit tractors built before 1997.
You need a snow blower that was attached to a 2007 or later Craftsman tractor (three-point deck mount). Be sure you get all the parts including the parts that normally stay on the tractor all year. Many tractors are sold or junked with those parts still on them.
Here is the correct snow blower for your tractor: Craftsman 24837 Dual-Stage Snow Blower Tractor Attachment. You will also need rear weights and rear chains.
You can get parts and a manual for any Craftsman here: Sears PartsDirect
