Hi Dan, The 88972 does not have power steering. The 88694 is the one with power steering, 208cc, 26 inch. Here is the link to sears.com: <a href="http://www.kqzyfj.com/click-3295074-11034749-1424824741000?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.sears.com%2Fcraftsman-quiet-208cc-dual-stage-snow-thrower%2Fp-07188972000P&cjsku=07188972000" target="_top" rel="nofollow">Quiet 208cc Dual-Stage Snowblower</a><img src="http://www.ftjcfx.com/image-3295074-11034749-1424824741000" width="1" height="1" border="0"/>

Any of these three fuel stabilizers will do a good job for you. I use the Sea Foam at 2 tablespoons per gallon when I go get my fuel.

Thanks Paul. The craftsman I was looking at on Sears website says model 88972. "Craftsman quiet 208cc". It seems to be a good fit for my needs though I'm not sure it has the breaks like the CC to make turns easier. I took your advice on the no-spill 2.5 gas can. Has great reviews and sounds perfect. Which fuel stabilizer do you recommend? Thank for your help, this site has a wealth of information.

Hi Dan, Are you looking at the 26 inch Craftsman 88694 with power steering? There is one without power steering.

The Craftsman and the Cub Cadet use the same shear pins. Shear pins on the Craftsman/Cub Cadet/Troy-Bilt are designed to break. If you hit something hard like a brick, boot or chunk of solid ice they protect the gearbox, gear shafts, impeller and a dozen other very expensive parts. They are very easy to replace and cost pennies compared to a new gearbox.

The Craftsman and the Cub Cadet come out of the same factory, they are the same machine except that the Cub Cadet is two inches narrower and does not have the quiet engine.

Just to be clear. The Home Depot warranty only extends the factory defects warranty. If your snow blower won't start under the HD plan, it's not covered. The Sears Protection Plan also covers most wear and tear items including the engine not starting. Tires, belts, shear pins, cables, handles, etc. are all covered. (no one covers stale/old fuel)

Saugus, ma 01906 4 car driveway and a long sidewalk. I can't decide between the Cub Cadet 2x 524swe from home depot and the Craftsman 26'' Dual-Stage.. I like sears 5 yr in home ex warranty and not so much the Home Depot 3 yr ex warranty..
I like the quality of the Cub Cadet over the craftsmen but not happy about shear pins possibly breaking. Thanks for your input !

4:14 pm. I'm on the phone with Ariens now. There's a mistake in their Ariens Platinum Series Operator’s Manual 04865200B - 4/15. Wonderful, I just bought the wrong ones from Amazon based on their mistake. Let's see if they make good.

4:27 pm. The Ariens factory parts department is sending me for no charge 2 “3 packs” of the correct shear bolt/nut 51001500. Good customer service!
