Hi Paul, thanks for taking my question, which is: What are the differences between the 2015 and 2022 Ariens Platinum 30 SHO snowblowers? I’m considering buying a 2015 used but can’t seem to find a comparison. Specs seem identical. Any other considerations besides wear & tear condition to consider? Many thanks.

Hi Dave, Yes there is a HUGE difference between the Troy-Bilt Storm 30 (or XP 30) and the Artic Storm 30XP

The Storm series is you run-of-the-mill big box store snow blowers. Average capacity, average power, etc. The XP version (black) has the electric chute.

The Arctic Storm is well worth the higher price. The Arctic Storm is a heavy-duty, high capacity snowblower. It has a large 14-inch impeller, larger auger, larger housing, and heavier duty frame/transmission. I wasn’t aware there is an Arctic Storm but the Arctis Storm 30XP has all the features including the electric chute control that I like a lot.

In reply to Jim Yuppa. Hi Jim, I personally like the Toro 721 better but it does not have all the features that you want. The Simplicity has tons more power than you old Lawn Boy and it runs on regular gas. Just so you know the Simplicity and the Briggs & Stratton 1696741 are the same snow blower. You can get the Briggs a little cheaper if that matters. Briggs & Stratton 1696741 @ Amazon. One of the advantages of buying from Amazon is you can add a 3 or 4 year no-questions protection plan. If they can't get it fixed they give you all your money back. I'm assuming the Simplicity is through a local dealer. It's always good to support your local business.

I live in northern NJ (Nutley)just outside NYC. Been using an old 3hp single stage lawn boy,but need to upgrade as it just doesn’t handle plow piles well enough. Want another single stage as I like the clean concrete job they do. 2 car wide paver driveway about 30′ long w about 100 ‘ ft of sidewalk. Considering Simplicity 250 cc snow biter #1222EE . Your thoughts? I like all the bells and whistles this model has. Other suggestions? Your reviews on this model are not available on your site any longer
