Hi Ken, The Troy-Bilt is a good snowblower for most areas of the country but up in your area you get a lot of heavy/wet snow and the Troy-Bilt/Cub Cadet/MTD is not the best choice. Toro Power Max HD and Ariens Deluxe/Platinum/Pro had an "open" auger and larger impeller discharge/chute so they handle that heavy snow a lot better. That said, If your snow is plugging up the snowblower try taking 1/2 passes and slow down into first gear.

I live just west of Albany NY. I thought I was buying the newest and best. The 2890 comes with a black small shovel on the hood of the blower. Four inches of packing snow resulted in using the little shovel every 10 feet to clear the augers and the shoot.

I disagree with your review. Without actually testing in 2-6 inches how can you ‘review’ this? I have the 2890 vortex 357 cc unit, live in the midwest, and have cleared 2+ inches of snow with it. there have been none of the issues you mention here. It is a finely built machine, and smart purchase planning involving timing of a coupon and a lowes 15% off sale sweetens the price where I ended up paying 895 plus tax, a tremendous value for this type of machine.

I recommend you review it again after using it in 2-6 inches of snow
