Hi Paul, Thanks for your advice and recommendations on getting a Pin Punch to drive out broken shear bolts. I did pick up a Mayhew set, made in the USA. I just saw, which I think is a new product, is a Snap On pin punch made for cold weather environments. I picked one up, as sometimes I may have to use outside, and easier to hold w/gloves. In reply to Mark. Hi Mark, Please buy the correct pin from the manufacturer. Each manufacturer uses a special pin or bolt designed to protect their snowblower. Most shear pins also have grooves cut in them so the pin shears correctly and "most of the time" ejects from the hole when it breaks so you aren't out in the middle of the driveway trying to get a broken shear bolt out of the shaft. HI Paul, I’m not sure if it’s already mentioned but I have looked on different sites and none seem to mention shear strength of the pin.I have been trying to understand how the shear pins work with blowers of varying torque outputs. Its obvious there is low and higher torque at the auger depending on the machine. So without this information can i pick just any shear pin that has the correct diameter, I tend to think not?
