Here is a list of Fit-Up Charts for Craftsman tractor attachments and accessories.
These charts do not include repair parts like spark plugs and filters. As I find them, I will add more from other manufactures.
You need the model number from under your seat. If you model number is not listed on this chart your machine is too old for the current attachments and you will have to find used items on ebay.com or elsewhere.
There are no “backwards” compatable lists. If you have an attachment there are no lists that show what it fits.
Used Snowthrowers: There is a model number tag on the tractor mounted snow throwers. If the model number on the tag does not start with 486 DO NOT BUY THE SNOWTHROWER! If it doesn’t start with 486 it will not fit your machine…..ever.

Hi Paul – impressive knowledge and thank you for sharing with everyone… My tractor is a 917.289280 – manual says it’ll take a 24838 but I’m looking at a neighbors 24839 – any idea if it will fit?
Paul
Hi Christopher, No, it won’t fit.
Your tractor uses 3 mounting points for the deck – one in front, two on the rear of the deck.
The 24839 is for a tractor with a four-point deck mount – two in front, two in the rear.
In other words, the 24839 is for a tractor made before 2004. The 24838 is made for a tractor made AFTER 2005.
Tractors made before 2004 have a completely different frame than your tractor and require a completely different set of mounting brackets.
Yes, it’s weird that the 24838 is for a newer tractor but that’s part of Sears’s legacy…
Christopher Melendy
Thanks @Paul – Makes sense now – I’ll keep looking!
JAMES SHELTON
Paul,
I have a Craftsman 917.28936 riding lawn mower. I do not know the model year. I was wondering what are my options for fitting a snow blower?
Paul
Hi James, Your tractor is a 2010 so it will take both the 42-inch model 24837 or the 50-inch model 25840 snowblowers. The only other choice is the 44-inch BERCO (bercomac.com). Nothing else will fit.
Curtis Klassen
Would you know what model of tractor, snow blower C151618263?
Paul
Hi Curtis, That snowblower was sold in Canada and there are no records or documentation available. It disappeared when Sears.ca closed its doors.
Wayne
Hey Paul, great site, thank you.
I have a GT 5000 917.276341 27hp tractor.
The fitup charts do not seem to include it.
The sticker under the hood says to use snow thrower 24846 – which I can’t find on the fitup charts either.
Will a 486.248381 thrower fitup with my GT 5000?
Thank you!
Paul
Hi Wayne, it should if the snowblower came off a 2005 or newer tractor. That snowblower came in the box with mounts for the pre-2005 tractors (4 point deck lift) and the mounts for the 2005 and newer (3-point deck lift) Your tractor is a 2005.
The current 486.24837 snowblower (new) will also fit your tractor.
Chris
Paul, I have a Craftsman mower Model 917.288572, someone in the neighborhood is selling a craftsman snow thrower attachment model 486.248391. Would that fit? Let me know if you need any other info. Thanks!
Paul
Hi Chriss, No, it will not fit. The snowblower is a 2002 and has the brackets for 2005 and older tractors. These older tractors used a 4-point deck lift.
Your tractor is a 2011. Your tractor uses the 3-point deck lift.
There are no adapter kits to connect the old-style snow blowers to the newer tractors.
Bruce
Hey Paul, I have a ys4500 917-276601 mower and am looking at a 486-248392 snowblower. Will this fit my mower?
Paul
Hi Bruce, no the snowblower is too old. It designed for garden tractors with the 4-point deck lift. (2004 and older)
Dan
will this model Husqvarna 960480067 bolt up to my 2 stage craftsman blower?
Paul
Hi Dan, A few things:
1. They don’t make cross reference charts for Husqvarna to Craftsman attachments.
2. You didn’t tell me what’s the model number of your snowblower (there are about a dozen models running around)
3. Your tractor has a cast-iron front axle but it has the CVT transmission. (black case) That transmission is pretty wimpy for doing that type of work – and very slow in reverse. Plus it’s very lightweight. You’ll have to add tire chains and a large rear weight just to move the snowblower around – let alone push through snow with it.
4. The 18 HP Briggs is also pretty wimpy for running a 2-stage snowblower.
Matthew
Hi Paul. Will snowblower model 486.248381 fit on garden tractor 917.288461. Thanks
Paul
Hi Matthew, Is the 24838 new? then yes, it will fit. The problem is the 24838 came with two sets of brackets. One set was for tractors made before 2006 and the other set is for tractors made after 2006. It also had an optional set of brackets to convert it to a 247 model Craftsman. So you need to know what the used one came off of. If you can’t find out – or – it came off the other style tractor than what you have I’d stay away from it. The parts are hard to find and expensive. Go to searspartsdirect.com to see the parts list and assembly manual.
Matthew
Blower came off model 917.273764. Not sure on year guessing 06-07 year. Ha e manual for blower only shows one bracket for tractor.
Thanks again
James
I have a 917.274980 and found a MTD 42″ two stage 190-032-101, I found that it appears it will not fit. Is there a kit to buy that I could just purchase and attach this blower or should I just sell the attachment and try to find the correct one? Thanks
Paul
Hi James, Snowblowers only fit the brand they are made by. A Craftsman only fits Craftsman, MTD only fits MTD, Husqvarna only fits Husqvarna, etc. There are no adapter kits to to make one brand fit another’s.
In addition, your tractor looks like it’s older than a 2006 so only one or two snowblowers will fit. Use the fit-up chart to find the right model numbers that will fit.
Shawn
Hey Paul,
I have a 2018 46” bed craftsman. Looking at an older 486.248381 snow blower. Most reading shows the 24837 model fitting. For $200 I can get the 81. Will it fit? Do I need a different bracket?
Help appreciated.
Paul
Hi Shawn, go out and check the model number on your tractor. If it starts with 247 IT WILL NOT fit.
If the model number starts with 917 it may fit. Use this document to see if it has the right brackets and other parts. https://www.searspartsdirect.com/manual/2v9xrol0tp-000247/craftsman-486248381-snowblower-attachment
You can order parts through searpartsdirect but it gets expensive very fast.
John Hanthorn
Hello Paul, I found your page and I am wondering if you will answer a couple of questions I have…I of course bought a used snow blower, and didn’t know much about it at the time, so what I have is tractor number 917.270822, and blower 486.248463. Will that blower work for that tractor, I looked at your chart and I am not sure. I have also found that I am missing mounting hardware, I have found some online, but am unsure if it will even work, and would like to know before I spend more on it. Do you have a part supplier you would suggest?
Paul
Hi John, You can get parts at searspartsdirect.com. It should mount up BUT your tractor is not designed for a snowblower. Your tractor has the welded front axle and it will bend and break over time. Snowblowers should only be used with garden tractors and yard tractors with the cast iron front axle.
Tyler
Hi Paul, I just bought a house that came with a 2000 (I think) Craftsman 944.600031. Do you have any idea where I can find which snowblower attachments would fit this model, or if it can even accept attachments. I can’t find much online.
Thanks
Paul
Hi Tyler, I have no access to any information on the Canadian Craftsman products (944.). Sears.ca always had a tight lid on any info including parts and operator’s manuals. When they closed their doors it disappeared. That said, The tractor was made by Husqvarna. That’s all that we know.
Ryan Mullin
Hi Paul, I really appreciate you keeping up with this site, it has been a great source of information for me.
I currently have a DYT4000, model 917.275700 (2005 per serial number). I am trying to find a snow thrower attachment. The sticker on my hood says the correct attachment is 24853, but the fit up guide shows 24837. In looking at used blowers, the 24837 seems more readily available, but I want to make sure it will fit, as parts and adapter kits seem to be hard to find. I am also wondering if an Ag-Fab LST42C would fit.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Paul
Hi Ryan, You need a snowblower that has the brackets for a 4-point deck. So if you are buying used you will have to make sure it is a 486.24837, 24838, 24839, and was mounted to a 2000-2005 tractor.
Tractors made after 2005 used a 3-point deck and the mounting brackets for the snowblower are different.
The Ag-Fab LST42 will fit but I think the Ag-Fab LST42A has the correct brackets. The Ag-Fab LST42C has the 3-point brackets.
Ricky Hammond
Paul I have a Craftsman 6000GT Riding tractor w/PTO 917.255980 I have a 42″ 2 Stage Craftsman Snow thrower 486.24383 are these adaptable to each other
Paul
Hi Ricky, From my data your tractor is a 1993 so a 486 snowblower won’t fit. the 486.24383 does not exist. Please check the number again.
Ricky Hammond
Hi Paul , I also have 2 Snow thrower attachments with these numbers and if possible would like to know what they fit. 842.26061 and I 95 486 000
can you provide me with any help or avenues in my search for fitment . Thanks
Paul
Hi Ricky, 842 is an old-obsolete snowthrower that was made by Haban company. There are no cross-reference charts that show what it fits. From what I know it was originally mounted to a garden tractor with a horizontal shaft engine. Is that other snowblower labeled as a Craftsman or Sears? There is no record of it and it may be a Canadian model.
Bob Witte
Hi Paul. I just took delivery of a Husqvarna tsg254xg. can i mount my Craftsman snow blower model number 486.248381? The frame looks identical however, the difference between the two tractors has me a little uncertain on the correct mount points for the transfer case.
Paul
Hi Bob, The TS was supposed to be a complete redesign but knowing Husqvarna they most likely changed just the hood. That said,
If your old Craftsman tractor was a 2006 or later, and Husqvarna didn’t change the frame width then it should fit.
Steve
Hey there Paul will a 486.248381 snowblower fit some way on my 917.203811 lawnmower? And 8m sorry if 8 asked this twice, I reloaded the page and my question disappeared lol oops.
Paul
Hi Steve, Maybe. The snowblower originally came with the proper mounts for your tractor (and mounts for other tractor frames). If it was mounted on a tractor with two front deck rods and the previous owner took all the parts off the tractor that normally stay on it then it will bolt up. Here is the assembly manual for the snowblower so you can check if you are getting the right parts: https://www.searspartsdirect.com/model/2v9xrol0tp-000247/craftsman-486248381-snowblower-attachment-parts.
But, I’m going to warn you – the snow blower is too heavy for your tractor. Your front axle and spindles will bend/break after a few years. The rear weight needed for your tractor to have enough traction is too heavy for your transmission axle.
Steve
Hey there Paul
is there a way to make a 486.248381 snowblower attatchment work on my 917.203811 lawnmower.
Paul
Hi Steve, the 24838 snow blower came with the mounting kits for both the older 4-point decks lawn tractors (pre-2005) and the new 3-point deck tractors. (2006 and newer)
Your tractor is the new style and it has one rod that goes from the front of the deck to the tractor frame. So, If the snow blower came off of a tractor with a 3-point deck it should bolt right up. If it didn’t the only way to get it to mount is if the owner kept all the original brackets and belts.
Make sure the owner took all the brackets off the tractor – they are expensive if you have to buy new. You can check all the parts and read the assembly manual here: https://www.searspartsdirect.com/model/2v9xrol0tp-000247/craftsman-486248381-snowblower-attachment-parts
Dan
Hi. I have and old 20 hp ” yard pro ” garden tractor from Sears.
I recently bought a T2740 snowblower attachment in hopes it’ll hook up. BUT, as my luck would have it it won’t fit :/
Anyway my question would be is there any way I could modify it to fit?
It looks like all I have to do is shorten the shaft on the assembly and drill two holes to put bolt in.
Not sure if I could buy a shorter shaft or just cut the one rusted in lol
Or perhaps find a used assembly off a different snowblower attachment?
Thanks.
Paul
Hi Dan, I believe you are off by 10 years in how old your tractor is. The Craftsman version (917.250050) was built in the 1991-1992 time frame.
I have no idea what a T2740 snowblower is. The only reference I can find is it’s for a Kubota? Anyway,
Your tractor is old enough that the manufacture who made snow blowers for that era or tractors has been out of business for over 25 years. In fact, I could find no references that a snowblower attachment was even made for that tractor. The current AgriFab and SBD Craftsman snow blowers will not fit.
Dennis
Hi Paul, will a 486.244040 48″ snow blade fit the LT1000? Thanks
Paul
Hi Dennis, I don’t know. I need the model number from under the seat to see what snow blade fits your tractor.
Walter
If I have the brackets for the Haban (284.24051) off the other tractor -289231-, then could I mount it on the 287052?
Thanks for the info.
Paul
Hi Walter, You are way out of my expertise. I suggest you go over to snowblowerforum.com and ask over there. You not only have to figure out how to mount the snowblower to the front but you also have to mount the center jack shaft and get the lift to work. You will also have to measure and find the horsepower belts. Finally, there are NO parts available for that old Haban if something ever breaks.
Walter
I have an old snow thrower Sears# 842.24051, made by Haban, I think. I had it attached to an older riding mower 917.289231 an LTS 1500. Wondering if it would fit up with LT2000 917.287052. Both hoods say snow thrower 24838 fits, but if the Haban 842.24052 fits the 289231, wouldn’t it also fit the 287052?
Thanks, Walter
Paul
Hi Walter, The 24838 fits both tractors because it includes the brackets needed for both. The Haban does not have the correct brackets to contect it to the newer (2008 ish) 28705. The frame is very different on your old 917.28923.
Preston Everson
Paul,
How about 486.248373 with Husqvarna YTH22V46? Thank you!!
Paul
Hi Preston, Only the first five numbers after the decimal count. So a 248373 and a 248371 are the same snow blower – plus or minus a few parts. The sixth number is just a revision or production run number – it doesn’t change the snow blower. That said,
Husqvarna makes their own snow blowers. Sears does not have Husqvarna make their snow blowers (they are made by Agri-Fab) No one makes a conversion kit to mount a Craftsman to a Husqvarna.
Preston Everson
Forgive my confusion, but why does Sears website state that the Craftsman snow throwers are compatible with all Craftsman and Husqvarna tractors?
https://m.sears.com/craftsman-dual-stage-snow-blower-tractor-attachment/p-07124837000P
Paul
Hi Preston, New – in the box – Sears states the current 486248374 will fit Husqvarna tractors. That box contains a huge bag of fittings for many Craftsman and some Husqvarna tractors. A particular tractor takes some of the parts and the owners usually throw the rest away.
If you are buying a used snow blower you have to make sure the owner saved all of those extra brackets. You have to make sure the owner also took all the brackets and pins off his old tractor. (some parts stay on the tractor all year)
Finally, Sears may state it fits Husqvarna but they don’t have a reference guide to tell you which models it fits. (there are four different frames Husqvarna uses for their tractors) When you call Sears they don’t have that information.
If you have a Husqvarna – buy a Husqvarna Snow Blower….
Preston Everson
One final question for you:
Agri-Fab LST42D with Husqvarna YTH22V46?
Thank you!
Paul
Hi Preston, I don’t know but you can get in touch with AgriFab here: http://www.agri-fab.com/Utilities/Support/ContactUs.aspx
Preston Everson
I have Husqvarna telling me it won’t work, and Agri-Fab telling me it will. Dang!
Paul
Hi Preston, Agri-Fab makes the snow blower – trust them. Husqvarna makes their own snow blowers – why would they tell you another competitor would fit?
Preston Everson
Good point. Thanks Paul, I appreciate it!
Seth
Hi Paul-
I found a Craftsman GT3000 for a decent price that I’m thinking of getting for increased HP and functionality, but want to make sure the snow thrower I have fits.
The number on the GT tractor is 917.275031.
The snow thrower I have on my DYS 4500 (917.28726) is the 24837 model. Do you know if the standard attachment brackets will work (on the GT)?
Thanks!
Paul
Hi Seth, according to my research the tractor you want to get is a 2001 – the tractor you have now is a 2006ish. The GT3000 uses four links to lift the deck – your tractor uses three. (one in front – two in rear) That means it uses a different set of mounts and a different drive belt than yours. But- Your snow blower came with all the parts for BOTH tractors. If you still have that box of parts then yes, the 24837 will fit.
Here is the owners manual and parts diagrams for the snow blower to check for the right parts: https://www.searspartsdirect.com/model-number/486248371/0247/1500650.html
Seth
Hi Paul-
Thanks for the quick reply. Yea, that sounds about right in terms of the vintage. I’m going to kick myself – I just (like last week) decided to get rid of those extra parts!! Well, it is good to know that it will fit given the correct brackets/belt are used.
Thanks!
Preston
Hi Paul, will snow thrower attachment 486.248371 fit my Husqvarna YTH22V46? Thank you!
Paul
Hi Preston, No. That particular snow blower is a strange one. It was only made to fit the Craftsman Pro Tractors made by MTD from 2011-2013.
Preston Everson
Thanks for the prompt response!
Brandon
Hi Paul,
I currently have a 917-27310 tractor and have a guy who is selling a 486-24840 snow blower, I cannot find any information on that snow blower. Would you happen to know if this would fit my tractor? Thanks
Brandon
Paul
Hi Brandon, The snow blower was made about the same time as your old tractor so it should fit. Use this manual to make sure you are getting all the parts including the mounting brackets and pins that are normally left on the tractor all year. https://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/user-manuals/486248400-craftsman-parts-manual
Ronald
do I need adapter plates to fit snow thrower 24837 to sears tractor 917.276340
Paul
Hi Ronald, No, but you need the correct plates. The snow blower came with two sets of mounting hardware. One set is for tractors with four lift points on the deck and the other set is for tractors with three lift points.
You can get the assembly manual for the snow blower 486.24837 and your tractor 917.276440 at searspartsdirect.com. With the manuals, you can determine if the snow blower you want to attach has all the correct parts.
sarah
will model 486.248463 snow thrower fit model 917.288460 tractor
Paul
Hi sarah,
he correct snow blower for your tractor is the 486.24837. https://www.sears.com/craftsman-dual-stage-snow-blower-tractor-attachment/p-07124837000P?plpSellerId=Sears&prdNo=2&blockNo=2&blockType=G2
Seth
Hi Paul – I’m looking at purchasing a Craftsman DYS4500 with model# 917.287260; is that the same as the 917.28726? I’d ultimately like to know which snow thrower and/or snow blade I could use with this tractor?
Paul
Hi Seth, The 6th number if there is one is a “production run” number. One or two minor parts may be different.
The correct snow blower is the Craftsman 24837 12″ Dual-Stage Snowblower Attachment
Seth
So 24838 wouldn’t work? Only asking because I found a good deal on a used model. But if it doesn’t work with my tractor, then there is no point in looking at it.
Paul
Hi Seth, Brand new in 2006 the 248.24838 would fit your tractor – BUT – it came with 2 sets of brackets, mounts and v-belts for tractors made before 2006 (4-point deck lift) and after 2006 (3-point deck lift). (Your tractor is a 3-point deck) So, you need to know what tractor the snow blower was mounted on previously. In addition, there are parts that are normally left on the tractor all year and most of the time the tractor was sold/scrapped with those parts still attached. If the snow blower was mounted on a pre-2006 tractor the parts you need can easily cost over $400. If the snow blower was mounted on a tractor like yours and they didn’t take the brackets off the tractor that can easily cost you $150-250 for the parts. Finally, if the snow blower has not been run for a few years you will HAVE TO buy new belts. The belts are the weak link on that snow blower and new ones will cost about $130.
You can get assembly manuals and parts through Sears PartsDirect.
Seth
Hi Paul – ok, well that sounds like it has the potential to be a real pain. I think the better thing to do is to continue my search for the correct model of blower for the tractor.
Paul
Hi Seth, The correct one is the current one listed on Sears.com. It’s the correct snow blower for your tractor – 486.24837. https://www.sears.com/craftsman-dual-stage-snow-blower-tractor-attachment/p-07124837000P?plpSellerId=Sears&prdNo=2&blockNo=2&blockType=G2
Seth Dunn
Hi Paul-
Found a used 486.248373. I think this is the correct snowblower however wondering if the last “3” is significant? Is this the aforementioned production run number?
Thanks,
Seth
Paul
Hi Seth, The 6th number if there is one is a “production run” number. One or two minor parts may be different.
I want to remind you:
Brand new the 24837 would fit your tractor – BUT – it came with 2 sets of brackets, mounts and v-belts for tractors made before 2006 (4-point deck lift) and after 2006 (3-point deck lift).
Seth Dunn
Hi Paul-
According to the seller it was mounted on a 2016 Craftsman Pro Series with a 54” deck. He says all original brackets are included. Based on what you’re saying it sounds like it should fit. He says it was used twice and sent me a video of it in action recently.
Paul
Hi Seth, Great! Now..if it was mounted on a new Craftsman Pro there are even more extra parts you won’t need. In other words, the snow blower came with two sets of brackets for Husqvarna made Craftsman Tractors (like yours) but to install it on the MTD made Craftsman Pro they had to buy a separate adapter kit.
So, spend a lot of time going through all the brackets and pick out the right ones for your tractor before you start attaching it.
Here is the manual. Model #486248373 Craftsman snow thrower attachment
Seth Dunn
Hi Paul-
I just happened to look under the hood of my tractor (not sure why I didn’t look until now) and noticed that the label with attachments lists snowblower 24838, which is confusing.
Would it be better to go with this info or would 24837 still work?
Thanks!
Paul
Hi Seth, There is no difference between the 24837 and 24838. Either model will work if you have the correct mounts. At this point, I would suggest this last one that has all the brackets.
Seth Dunn
Hi Paul-
So the 24837 will work if I understand correctly and it comes down to the mounting hardware?
The seller tells me the blower comes with all the original mounting hardware/brackets and manuals/documentation.
Anything else I should be on the lookout for with this snowblower?
Thanks again,
Seth
Paul
Hi Seth, Yes, it will work. The Craftsman snow blowers are good mounted snow blowers. The only thing I suggest is you keep a spare drive belt on hand. (from the blower to the center pulley)
Seth Dunn
Hi Paul-
Ok, so I picked up the snowblower (248373) on Saturday and have begun the task of sorting thru all of the parts and pieces and I think I just may be missing the side plates that attach to the tractor to hang the snowblower on. These are parts 25679 and 25678 in the manual on page 6.
I do have some other side plates/brackets that came with the blower, but I don’t believe they are for my tractor. There is an additional manual (486.11904 Snow Thrower Kit – for tractors with model numbers beginning with 247) and a supplement that came with the deal, and these other brackets that I have are mentioned in this additional manual – since my tractor’s model doesn’t start with 247, I don’t believe these pertain to me and the install on my tractor, which has a model number starting with 917.
Is this correct? If so, it looks like I will need to source the side plates (or contact the seller to find out if he still has them on his tractor).
This is going to be a project for sure – so many extra parts and I’m assuming that I may need to reconfigure or alter the clutch assembly since it may have been set-up for his particular tractor.
Price was really good so can’t complain too much (yet).
Thanks,
Seth
Paul
Hi Seth, You are correct. The 486.11904 kit is for MTD built tractors (247) You can sort through the pile and put all those parts in their own separate bag. Once you get your snow blower running eBay off the 486.11904 kit. It’s $80 new.
Seth Dunn
Hi Paul-
Ok, that sounds like a good idea. I’ll order the correct side plates and auction off the MTD parts once separated. Thanks for the help!
Jo
Hi Paul,
I would like to know which tractors will fit a 40″ 2 stage craftsman snowblower
model # C151 610610?
Thank-you
Paul
Hi Jo, that model number style has not been used since 1997. So it would fit tractors older than that. There are no attachment charts for those years.
Ben
Hey Paul, I have a Craftsman lawn tractor Model 917.273762 and have been looking at purchasing a used snow blower attachment Model 486.248381. will this fit together?
Paul
Hi Ben, It should but make sure you get all the parts including the parts that normally stay on the tractor all years. Here is the snow blower manual so you can check all the parts:
Model 486248381 CRAFTSMAN SNOW THROWER ATTACHMENT
Chris
Paul, My husband has a Craftsman 944.60550 with a snow blower attachment. The guy he bought it from gave him brackets for a snow blade, too, that he used to have on it, but we can’t find any kind of install manual to show how it should be installed. Can you help?
Paul
Hi Chris, Model numbers that start with 944 are Canadian Craftsman sold by Sears Canada. They have no affiliation with the U.S. models and they never offered fit up charts for us to use. If the model number on the snow blower starts with 486 please write back with the number and I may be able to help. If the model number is something else it may be a Berco and you can try that company for instructions Bercomac.com

I have a 2007/2008 Craftsman 917 model and purchased a snow thrower attachment off Craigslist. Went to put it on and the mounting bracket doesnt’ match my tractor. Trying to use Sears to figure out which mounting bracket I need but I can’t find anything helpful on their site (including the chat now sessions). They have 2 mounting brackets they sell: 24831 which passes the eye test but the site says for 2006 models and prior. The other is 68030 but it has no detail on what it fits. Help!
Paul
Hi Phil, I need more info before I can help you. I need the model number of your tractor (under the seat) and the full model number of the snow blower. Finally, It’s not important but if you would measure the width of the snow blower. 42, 46 or 50 inches. Thanks.
Phil
Model 287210. Snow attachment is 248371. It’s a 42″ snow thrower.
Thanks for the quick reply, wow!
Paul
Hi Phil. When someone asks for your model number you need to give them the entire number. In this case 917.287210 and 486.248371. There are many parts that end in the numbers you posted so the first three number before the digit tells them who made the part. Most parts guys don’t know this and you will get the wrong parts otherwise.
In addition, this snow blower came with two different parts bags. One for the 917 (Husqvarna built) tractor and one with 247 (MTD) parts. Since you bought it off Craig’s list you probably don’t know if it was on an MTD or Husqvarna tractor. If it was mounted on a MTD tractor the parts you need to switch it over to a 917 tractor may run $300-400
Here is the correct manual for the 917 tractors. Inside is the correct parts list. https://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/user-manuals/486248371-craftsman-parts-manual
Phil
Thanks for the help. It came off a larger Craftsman garden tractor so I’m betting it was the 247 model. The mounting hardware doesn’t look anything like the manual. I’ll look into those attachments. I really appreciate the help! Hopefully I’ll be able to make it work.
Paul
Hi Phil, A new 42 inch is usually on sale for around $1200. Craftsman 24837 42″ Dual-Stage Snowblower Attachment
Phil
Hi Paul, just wanted to let you know I was able to get the blower attached to my tractor. I purchased the mounting brackets for the front of the tractor and did some homemade parts for mounting the belt deck, it’s working like a charm. Thanks for your help as I probably would have purchased some incorrect parts without it. You rock!!
Levi Blagg
Good Evening Paul,
Thank you for all your support. I have a 46″ attachment (486.248460). I would like to know if it can fit and run off of a 917.270611 15.5hp. I have been searching everywhere for an answer.
Paul
Hi Levi, Your tractor is not built to handle a snow blower. The frame is not strong enough. The snow blower is designed to mount on a 1997ish to 2004 Craftsman Garden Tractor.
Levi Blagg
Thank you Paul! You are a life saver! I hav eone more question regarding attachment 486.248460. Can you give me model numbers or Tractors (18hp etc) that will work with it. I might trade my cub cadet.
Paul
Hi Levi, The snow blower is designed to mount on a 1997ish to 2004 Craftsman Garden Tractor. It will NOT mount on any other Craftsman lawn or garden tractor. You can figure out what year a Craftsman tractor was made at this article: https://mycountryacre.com/year-craftsman-lawn-mower-model-made.
Don
Hello Paul, I have 2 tractors, one is a 917.255980 and the other is a 917.276220. I was wondering if a snowblower model # 486.248392 would fit either? The 276220 has a sticker on it that says 24846 and your chart says 24837/24831 for both. Thank you
Paul
Hi Don, The 248392 should fit the 276220. Most parts for it and the manual are still available through searspartsdirect.com. The 24846 was the original snow blower for it in 2005. The new 24837/24831 include the correct brackets for your older tractor.
Nothing fits the 917.255980. The snow blower manufacture for that tractor is long out of business (went bankrupt in 97) and there are no parts available.
Dusty
Hi Paul, I recently acquired a 2002 ltx1000 917.272463 and am looking to put on a snow thrower. I have been reading all the comments but have not found the same issue so now I must ask. will a 486.248392 snow thrower bolt right up? I looked through the owners manual and everything looks right but I need confirmation.
Thank you so much!
Paul
Hi Dusty, I agree, it should bolt up. You can get missing parts for the snow blower from searspartsdirect.com
Sam
Paul,
I can’t seem to find a straight answer. Will a 486.248463 snow thrower fit on a YTS-3000 model number 917.289341 ? I’ve got the front brackets a bucket on it now.
Paul
Hi Sam, The reason no one can answer that is: 1. There are no charts or tables that list the old snow blowers and what tractors they fit on. 2. Craftsman made a frame/deck change in 2005 so any snow blower older than a 2005 will not fit a tractor made after 2005. 3. Snow blowers made after 2005 have both sets of brackets (before 2005/after 2005) but if you buy one of these used snow blowers, you don’t know what brackets it has with it. 4. Finally, most owners left the mounting brackets and mounting pins on the tractor. The tractor died and was junked but the brackets were never taken off. In your case,
The snow blower was made before 2004 so it was designed for a tractor with a 4 link deck. Your tractor was made after 2009 and has a deck that mounts with 3 links. So that old snow blower won’t fit. There are no adapter kits or parts that will make the old 46-inch snow blower fit the new tractors. The 2009 and newer tractors use a 42 or 50-inch snow thrower.
Now, both snow blowers listed on sears.com will fit your tractor. Your tractor, if I remember correctly has the 20 inch rear tires so I suggest only installing the 42-inch snow blower. Here is the link to the 42 inch: Craftsman 24837 12″ Dual-Stage Snowblower Attachment
Sam
Paul,
I can’t thank you enough!!!!!!

Leo Durrant
Hi, Paul. I have a 2007 Craftsman 917.28746. It currently has a Craftsman bucket on the front (486.24847) that can be removed by pulling a single pin. I want to get a snow blade for it that would attach in the same way so I don’t have to pull bolts every year. The fit-up chart shows I need a 24414. 2 questions: will the 24414 use the bucket’s mounting brackets so I can attach both tools with a single pin? And is the 24414 the only blade that I can use (I have a line on a 24443 that is in great shape and a lot cheaper)? Thanks!
Paul
Hi Leo, Your tractor should use three links to mount the deck. If it does then the 24443 won’t fit. That was designed for a tractor that used the four-link deck lift. The 24414 is a heavy duty blade. The other blade that would fit is a very flimsy blade and your tractor will quickly break it.
Here is the parts diagram and manual for the blade. You can compare that to the parts diagram for your bucket to see if they match.

Michael Johnson
Is the snow blower 486.248374 compatible with the tractor 917.273100?
Paul
Hi Michael, If the snow blower is new-in-the-box it will fit. If the snow blower is used it may not fit. Why?
Older tractors, like yours, used a 4 point mounting system for the deck. Tractors built after 2005 used a 3 point mounting system for the deck. New the 24837 snow blower comes with both sets of brackets but most buyers usually throw out the set they don’t need after they install the snow blower on their tractor.
Here is the assembly manual. you can print it out and use it to verify whether you have the correct brackets. If the used snow blower does not have the correct brackets you are looking at $200 or so to buy them from searspartsdirect.com

Hello Paul, Thank you for the speedy reply. This is a terrific site with lots of useful information. You definitely know these machines very well.
You are so correct, mine is an older model (~2000 year, I’m quite sure I bought it in spring of 2001). The slow blower is new, but is a clearance item since my local Sears (Cedar Rapids, IA) is closing up, very sad actually. All sales are therefore final, so I’m a little concerned whether all the parts are there. I’ll study the manual and examine the parts to confirm this before purchase. Thank you for taking time to answer my (and many other’s) questions posted here. This is a great resource for many people.
Mike
Paul
Hi Michael, Yes, it’s really sad to see that store close. I have relatives in Parkersberg so I’ve shopped at that store since the mall opened.
If the box is not too beat up I’ll bet the parts you need will be in it.
Ed
Will the snow blade assembly from my YTH2348 fit the YTH24v54 tractor?
Paul
Hi Ed, It will bolt right up.
Sara
Hi Paul,
Will a craftsman snow plow model # 486-244411 fit a Cub Cadet LTX 1046?
Paul
Hi Sara, If you are buying brand new yes. Use the mounting instructions for the 247. Craftsman Pro.
If it used and came off a lawn tractor where the model number on the tractor was 917 – no.
Bob
I have a 2004 Husqvarna YTH 2248 tractor and was wondering what model Sears snow thrower would fit
Paul
Hi Bob, Neither Craftsman or Husqvarna ever made a cross reference chart to tell you which Craftsman snow blower would fit the Husqvarna’s. I do know that Husqvarna lawn tractors and garden tractors in the 2010 to 2015 range used the same frames as the red Craftsman’s but I have no clue if that was the case back in 2004.
So, the current 2017 model Craftsman snow thrower has the mounts to fit a 2004 Craftsman but I have no idea if the Husqvarna YTH frames were the same back then.
Doug Nelson
I have a 917.273200 tractor. It appears as though #24837 and #24831 blowers fit it. My question is, and I probably know the answer, would a 917.255450, or a 486.24846 blower fit this machine? Thks
Paul
Hi Doug, that 917 number is a lawn tractor, not a snow blower. Also be aware I don’t have cross-reference lists. I just look at the parts list – manual to see the match. That said,
Your tractor is about 1999. The 24846 is also about a 1999. There is a good chance it will fit. Remember the problem with used snow blowers is they usually don’t have all the attachment brackets, pins and other parts. A lot of that gets left on the old tractor when it’s junked. Unless you are taking it directly off a tractor like yours assume up to $400 of parts are missing.
Heere is the parts/manual page for the 486.24846 snow blower. Model #486248460 CRAFTSMAN Snow Thrower Attachment
Doug Nelson
I now have a line on a 486.248463 snowblower. Same story as above, but does the “3” on the end make a difference? Thanks
Paul
Hi Doug, No, That’s just a build number. Husqvarna changed some small part on the snow blower but it still works and mounts the same.
Doug Nelson
Thanks Paul. My tractor, as I stated, is a 917.273200. The blower I’m looking at came off a 917.276220. Does anything here indicate that the blower will/won’t fit my machine???
Paul
Hi Doug, I can’t find the approximate build date for your tractor but you can. Look at the serial number
Serial Number: The first two numbers are the month. The third and fourth numbers are the day. The fifth and sixth numbers are the year.
If your tractor was built after 2002 and the snow blower model number starts with 486 it should fit. You can get a manual for the snowblower to help you mount it through searspartsdirect.com.
Doug
One last question, Paul (you hope). My tractor is a 917.273200, and as I said, the blower came off a 917.276220. I looked up those two tractors, and what snowblowers fit them. While neither one mentioned the 486.248463, they both had the same two blowers as fitting both machines. My logic says that if that’s the case, this blower should fit both machines. Follow my twisted logic?????
Paul
Hi Doug, Logic says yes – but since I can’t find the manuals for your tractor I can’t say 100%.
There are parts that are normally left on your tractor and people don’t always remember to remove them and give them to you when you buy a used machine. This snow blower is obsolete so even getting parts from searspartsdirect.com may be a problem.
You can use the assembly manual to verify if you have all the right parts. Here is the manual for the snow blower http://download.sears.com/own/24846e.pdf
michael
hello,
would you be able to tell me what year craftsman tractor I need for a craftsman 46″
snowblower model 486.248463
Paul
Hi Michael, That model was made for the larger Husqvarna built Garden tractors with a 54-inch deck and 4 mounts on the deck. Years – 2000-2005. Here is the manual for it. Model 486248463 | CRAFTSMAN SNOW THROWER ATTACHMENT Parts/Manual
kevin white
will a international snowblower fit a ariens lawn mower
Paul
Hi Kevin, No. I have to assume you are talking about an International Harvester, not a Cub Cadet. That would make the snow blower over 40 years old and was designed for a horizontal shaft engine. It probably weighs more than your tractor. That said, I’m also going to guess that you are talking about the later Ariens lawn tractors made by Husqvarna and it’s about 3-6 years old. If that’s the case the current 42 inch Craftsman would fit but you also need rear weights and chains for traction. I also don’t recommend adding a snow blower if you have the CVT transmission (look under the back of the tractor and if the transaxle case is black – it’s a CVT)
Ben
Paul, first I want to say thank you for all that you do. It is nice to see you helping others. It is greatly appreciated.
With that said, I also have a question. I have a Husqvarna YTH2242 mower and am looking to put a snow plow on the front. I found one locally but am not sure if it will work. The plow is a Craftsman 486244411. Assuming it will not work, is there a universal mounting kit that will work? I’ve tried to calls my local Sears, but nobody will answer the phone… Your help is greatly appreciated.
Paul
Hi Ben, Yes, it will fit. It’s a 42-inch blade.
Here is the Husqvarna Blade: Husqvarna 588181302 48″ Tex-Style Lawn Tractor Frame Snow Dozer Plow Blade
Chains: Husqvarna 954050203 Snow Thrower Tire Chains Pair, 20-Inch by 8-Inch by 8-Inch
Husqvarna doesn’t have rear weights at all anymore so here is the best option: Craftsman 24100 55 lb. Rear Weight
Ben
That helps me immensely. I have been searching for the past week and haven’t found anything. Glad to know that the craftsman blade will work. Now I just need to find a mounting bracket for my Husqvarna. You are awesome!
Paul
Hi Ben, Sorry, I was unclear. The front of your Husqvarna and the red Craftsman tractors are the same so the blade will bolt right up. No additional adapters are needed. (They come off the same assembly line)
Ben
You were absolutely clear. I am buying the plow used here locally, but he doesn’t have the mounting brackets. I am searching for them but haven’t had a lot of luck.
Paul
Hi Ben, All Craftsman parts are located here: You can get parts and a manual for any Craftsman here: Sears PartsDirect.
Type in the full model number “486244411”, select model number or part number and then hit Search.
The parts listing pop up and you can order the parts right there. The brackets are $18.53 plus shipping.

Hi Paul,
I have a Husqvarna LGT2654 tractor and have gotten to the age where I don’t want to walk behind and muscle my snowblower. I’d like to get a snowblower attachment and have struggled to find info on what blower would work on my tractor. Could you provide some info and or suggestions?
Thanks,
tim
Paul
Hi Tim, The current Husqvarna 42-in Two-stage Residential Snow Blower will fit. The 54 will also fit but your transmission is not heavy enough to last long.
You will also need tire chains and rear weights. Your wheels are not drilled for wheel weights for a reason – That tractor is just a lawn tractor with large rear tires and really not designed for heavy-duty work.
Earl
I just purchased a Craftsman tractor model 247.27042. In 2014 I purchased a MTD 42″ snow thrower attachment that I used on an MTD made Husky tractor sold by Tractor Supply. Will this fit on my new tractor or is there a conversion kit available for my tractor that would enable me to attach it?
Paul
Hi Earl, I saw the other post that you had it on a 2004 Huskee. I don’t know. I suggest going back to the dealer you purchased that snow blower from. He may have compatibility charts for that MTD snow blower.
Joseph Bonventre
HELP!!! so I’ve read everything and still have a flipping clue what I️ need can you help ….. I️ have a 917.289283 mower /// the blower I’m looking at numbers are 486.248462 and 300871
Will it fit???
Thanks in advance
Paul
HI Joeseph, The 486.248462 won’t fit. It was made for tractors built before 2003 with the 4 point deck mounts. I don’t have a clue about the 300871 that number with the 486. prefix is not recognized and I don’t recognize it either. If the prefix is different than 486 there is no possibility it will fit.
You need a snow blower that was attached to a 2007 or later Craftsman tractor (three-point deck mount). Be sure you get all the parts including the parts that normally stay on the tractor all year. Many tractors are sold or junked with those parts still on them.
Here is the correct snow blower for your tractor: Craftsman 24837 Dual-Stage Snow Blower Tractor Attachment. You will also need rear weights and rear chains.
Don Kerr
Hi Paul
I have a Sears tractor model 944-607091
Will snowblower number C151 618 223 fit
Thank You
Paul
Hi Don, I don’t have that info. If you had the manuals you could figure it out though. Sears Canada is the only place that has information on the Craftsman items sold in Canada.
Does your tractor have a 3 or 4 point deck lift? Is the snow blower designed for a 3 or 4 point deck lift tractor? IN other words the year the snow blower was made has to be pretty close to the year your tractor was made.
Don Kerr
Hi Paul,
Complete number of tractor is 944.607091
The 2 used blowers im looking at have the following numbers on them
C151610610 and the other is C151611731
Will either of these fit my tractor
Thanks again
Don in Calgary
Paul

Hi Paul. Would a 40″ Craftsman 944-61021 snow thrower attach to our new 2017 Husquavarna? Our tractor has a larger deck however 42″ I think. What about also a 40″ 90s model MTD 190-621-000 snow thrower? Asking about both these as some people in are area are selling. Are there parts or manuals you’d suggest?
Paul
Hi Kayla, That old, old, old Craftsman Snow blower will not fit ANY Husqvarna, Craftsman or any other brand newer than a 1997 model. Same with the MTD snow thrower. They were for tractors only made in the 90’s. If you have a 2017 Husqvarna the only snow thrower that will fit is the current 42″ and 50″ models.
Curt Grimm
Hi Paul — Lots of great info here! I have a 2003 snow thrower #486.24837 that worked great with my 2003 #917.___ tractor. Now that the tractor is on its last legs, are there any new #917.___ tractors that are compatible with this blower and if yes, what sort of attachments will I need?
Paul
HI Curt, Does your tractor have 3 deck mounts or four? The new Red Craftsman tractors have 3 mounts. If you have 3 mounts everything will fit right up. If you have four mounts you will have to get new front brackets for the tractor and possibly a new center plate.
The snow blower is really the same as the latest model on sears.com but the latest model has the brackets for both the 3 link and 4 link deck mounts.
So go to sears.com and the Model # 24837 page. Download the operator/installation manual. If it’s not there you may also go to searspartsdirect.com and download the manual. 486.24837. Compare the installation and the parts. Order the correct parts from searspartsdirect.com.
By the way, you may see the “Craftsman Snow Thrower Mounting Kit” on sears.com. Those are the wrong parts – they are for mounting the Craftsman snow blower on an MTD tractor.
Curt Grimm
Thanks, Paul, but I guess my question is really whether my old blower will fit any new, 2017 #917.___ tractor? I looked at a few of them at the store and they did not seem to have holes in the right places to install the hanger brackets and shoulder bolts to hang the clutch idler assembly under the tractor.
Paul
Hi Curt, Yes, with the proper brackets. You have to take the time and compare all the parts and order the correct parts so your old snow blower fits onto the new tractor. The holes may be different and that’s why you may need new brackets. Please see the previous comment for where to get the manual and parts.
Everett Lago
Hi Paul, have a Craftsman LT3000 (917.276813) and I purchased a snowblower attachment (486.24838) off Craigslist but did not get the clutch/idler assembly. I contacted the seller after I realized it was missing but the tractor had been sold separately with the parts I needed attached. Do you know how I might go about finding a replacement assembly? I found a 24579 attachment locally that has the assembly but I do not know if it is compatible with the 24838? Can you help me in any way?
Paul
Hi Everett, Here is the parts page for your snow blower. You can look at the parts you need and I suggest downloading the assembly manual.
Craftsman 24838 Snow Blower .
No one has the cross-compatibility info for these old snowblowers. You may be able to do a little research yourself but need the entire model number in order to search searspartsdirect.com to see if that 24579 has any compatable parts.
I tried that number with the 486 prefix and it did not come up. I have a feeling that is an old Haban manufactured. (842 prefix) That company is long gone and not one part will fit yours.
Everett
Hi Paul, Thank you for the quick response. I have found another snow thrower which seems to be identical to the 486.24838 but it has a additional 1 at the end, 486.248381. Based on the manuals they look identical, what are your thoughts on this fitting my Craftsman LT3000 (917.276813)?
Paul
Hi Everett, It is the same snow blower. Sears uses the first 5 numbers for the model. The 6th number if there is one is just a batch number. That number represents a small (but meaningless change to you) in the number of parts used in making the machine. The 248381 is a later batch.
Dealing with used snowblowers is a big pain. I’m not being negative – just honest. Both of those snow blowers came new in the box with the correct parts for your tractor. But depending on the original tractor they were mounted on they of may not be now.
Read the manual in the link in the other post. In the manual it shows you how to determine if you have a 3 point or 4 point tractor. Read and study the section for your tractor. Then compare the attachments brackets to what is on the snow blower. You also need the pins and brackets that normally stay on the tractor all year. Hopefully they took them off the old tractor for you. If the parts are not there you have to order each individual parts from searspartsdirect. By the way, if the parts are wrong the big drive belt is wrong. That’s an additional $80 plus shipping.
Everett
Thanks again. I will study the section in the manual that shows the connections to the tractor to verify I have all the parts I need. The snowblower is currently mounted on a 2008 Craftsman DYS 4500. Any idea if the mounting is the same as my LT-3000? It looks the same from the pictures I have viewed but I can’t be sure.
Paul
@Everett, It’s real easy to tell if the owner has the deck for the tractor nearby. The older tractors have 4 deck mounts the newer tractors have three. If you can’t tell that way use the model number off the 4500 and look up the parts listings on searspartsdirect. The deck diagram will tell you. The numbers on the hood don’t tell you a thing. You need the model number under the seat to figure this out.
Chris Sweetland
Hi Paul I have a craftsman 917.252700 tractor and was given a 842-240721 snowblower can I use this on my tractor?
Paul
Hi Chris, No Idea, The snow blower is an old Haban and the company that made it went out of business in the early 90’s. There are no parts available for it except from a scrapper on eBay.
I can’t get an idea of the age of your tractor so I have no idea if it would fit. Your tractor would have to be made sometime between 1994 and 1996 for it to fit.
Chris Sweetland
Hi again Paul my serial number is 112294c001025 this leads me to believe that it is a 94 so it should work right?
Paul
@Chris, Honestly and I’m sorry, I have no idea and there is no one around that I know of that may know. Someone once told me the 1994-1997 tractors were the same but during that time period I was mowing 400 lawns and didn’t have time to even look at a Craftsman. You can try mytractorforum.com. There may be a Craftsman geek there who could figure it out. The tractor manufactures don’t care about older stuff – they will gladly sell you a new snow blower that fits a 2004 and newer but they can’t maintain parts when even the company that supplied the parts is long, long gone. .
The real problem is there are no parts available and no info at all. For example, there is no info on the belt lengths etc. If you go to all the work to get it figured out and then you are missing a part – there is no way to figure out what could replace it.
Jack
Hey. I have a 486.24840 snow thrower. I would like to attach this to a 247.204440 tractor. I have everything except the mount kit. What do I need to buy? I understand if i need to adept a kit to make it work. I really appreciate any help. Thank you.
Jack-
Paul
Hi Jack, You need a snow blower that was made in this century. (2006 and later) Your snow blower was made around 1998 and uses the 4 point mounting. It was made specifically for an AYP built Craftsman tractor.
The newer machines like your 20440 use a 3 point mounting system. There is no adapter kit to make it fit an MTD built tractor.
Jack
dang, gotcha, thank you Paul. would i be able to make it work with some welding and fabrication or its just impossible? i would like to not have to spend the money on a different thrower
Paul
Jack, Go to searspartsdirect.com. There you can download a manual for your snowblower. You can also get a copy of the manual for the current model 486.24837. Print the manuals out and compare the differences.
In addition to the different parts there you will need the adapter kit. Craftsman Snow Thrower Mounting Kit
Jack
Thanks again. One last question, if i did go with the new snow thrower, would i need to buy a mount kit or does the one you mention above come with everything?
Paul
Hi Jack, You need to buy the kit.

Hi Ray, That looks like a CA tractor. Are you in Canada? I don’t have any Fit-up data for the CA equipment. You have to call sears.ca repair.

Greetings. I’m reading this thread and am trying to figure out compatability. I have tractor model 917.273070 and have found a used snow blower attachment 486.248463. Are you able to confrim if those are compatable?
Paul
Hi
Dave, the problem is Craftsman has a new snow blower for sale that fits most tractors back to 2000. So they will not tell you if an old snow blower will fit. At least you can figure it out if you have the model numbers off of both items. You will need the owner’s/assembly manual for the snow blower from searspartsdirect.com. Here is the manual. 917.248463 manual.
So, you need to figure out if your tractor has 4 deck mounting points or 3. Then you need to figure out if the snow blower is set up the same way. You tractor uses 4 deck rods. The old snow blower also is the 4 mount style. It should fit if you have all the parts.
All the parts is the snow blower, the front mount and the bolts, the center jack-shaft/mounting plate, bolts, 2 belts and pins. You will have to read the snow blower manual, go through the parts list and then match it up to the pile of parts the seller has for the snow blower. They are usually very poor at getting all of the parts off the old tractor.
The long belt is now over $70 so make sure that is there.

I bought a use 486.248392 snow thrower, will it fit my 917.287121 tractor?
Paul
Hi Jake, The short answer is no.
The long answer is your tractor is about a 2007 and uses the 3-point lift for the deck. The snow blower you bought was designed for the 4 point lift on the 1997-2004 tractors. You need the current snow blower sold on Sears.com Craftsman Dual-Stage Snow Blower Tractor Attachment
Here is where it gets confusing. The snow blower you purchased and the snowblower on Sears.com are pretty much the same. But the snowblower you purchased does not come with the brackets and parts needed to mount it on your tractor. To switch it over is a hour or so of comparing the parts list from the new one and yours, ordering the parts and waiting for them to come. The last person who did this it cost them over $450 and had to wait over 6 weeks for a couple of parts.

I have a 42″ craftsman snowblower #842-24063 off my cv20s lawn tractor ‘it’s mint’ and want too know what tractors it would fit ..?
Paul
Hi fosco, Your snow blower was made by Haban. The shut down their manufacturing in 1994 and went out of business in 1997. There is no information of what Roper, Sears and Craftsman tractors it fits.
I’m pretty sure your tractor is about a 1995 so I would guess any Roper, Sears and Craftsman lawn tractors that had a vertical engine it may work on.
My suggestion is to go over to the snowblower forum and ask. There are quite a few collectors over there and they may be interested in a mint one.

Paul Wil the craftsman dual stage 42 inch tractor mount snowblower fit on a husqvarna LGT 2654 rider
Paul
Hi Jeff, Yes, but you may not want to do it. That tractor has a garden tractor frame but only a lightweight lawn tractor transmission. The rear axle is rated for 675 lbs total. In my opinion, putting the extra weights and chains you need on the rear, the weight of the snow blower out front and the operator will overload the trans. You may bend an axle or burn up the tranny.

I have a 1994 craftsman 917.25761 18hp twin will any of the 486……blowers fit with some minor adaptation
Paul
Hi Nate, I can’t get enough information on your tractor to give you a complete answer. It looks like you could buy that tractor without a mowing deck so the deck or deck mounting brackets don’t show on the parts diagram.
I can tell you this. Tractors made a major design change around 1999 and Craftsman tractors with the 917. prefix after that date can all use the current 42 inch snowblower attachment. That snow blower attachment is made by Agri-Fab. (prefix 486)
I also know that before 1997 Craftsman/Sears used Haban Corp to make the snow blower attachment. The Haban snow blower attachments will not fit on 1999 or newer tractors.
So, my best guess is No, the 486. snow blowers will not fit. You are welcome to go over to the Tractor Forum and ask they members over there to verify my answer. The link goes directly to the Craftsman page.

I have a 2009 Poulan lawn tractor Model PO16542LT and would like to put a snowblower on it will a craftsman blower work on this tractor and if so what model number would I be looking for. I found a blower number 486.248391 would this work????
Paul
Hi Larry, The current 42 inch Craftsman snow blower has the brackets to mount it on your tractor but I don’t recommend that you do. You Poulan has the lightweight frame and welded front axle. The snowblower adds about 400 lbs out front. That will put enough loda on your frame that it may crack or bend. The front axles will bend or the axle will bend/crack. In addition the steering on that tractor is not strong enough you will strip the pinion gear and probably the the turned gear (rack)
The snow blower you listed is made for tractors that have 4 mounts on the deck. If you get it make sure you get all the mounting plates, mounting bolts and studs off the old tractor’s frame.

I have a 2010 Husqvarna 2754 GLS (96043006600) and there is a Craftsman 42 inch snow thrower model number 248392 for sale on Craigslist. Will this snow thrower fit my lawn tractor?
Paul
Hi Paul. The problem with buying a used snow blower is there are parts that are normally left on the tractor. If those parts are missing you can easily add $200 in parts to get it running.
To see if it fits. Look under the front of your tractor and see how many rods go from the front of your deck to the frame, The older tractors use two rods (four point support) the newer style decks use one (three point mount) The snowblower you are looking at uses a four point style mount. It can’t be updated for the three point mount.
Paul
Paul Abts
Thank you Paul for the information, I have a three point mount.
Paul Abts
In the first few pages of the manuals for craftsman snow throwers with models numbers such as 486-24837 and 38, it calls for owners to identify tractor by looking for single mount point under front axle. Am I wrong to assume that any craftsman snow thrower model with a three point mount will fit my tractor which has a three point mount for the deck?
Paul
@ Paul, the Craftsman snow blowers made in the last 10 years come with both the 3 and 4 point Husqvarna (917) mounts. Buying used though most of the owners threw away the mounts they didn’t need. So make sure the used snow blower you are buying has the 3 point mounts. Also when buying used make sure you get all the pins and mounting plates off the tractor it was on.
