Toro builds good snowblowers and their quality is still as good today as it was 15 years ago.  The 1028 LXE  is heavily built and will throw snow farther than most other brands.  The patented Power Max Auger System handles more snow in less time than other brands.  The system meters snow intake into the impeller and snow that’s not immediately thrown is returned back to the auger.  This allows the impeller to maintain maximum speed and velocity.  The bottom of the discharge chute is an inverted funnel with a larger opening and non-stick surface that reduces snow build-up and chute plugging

The 1028 LXE  also has a heavy-duty gearbox virtually eliminating the need for troublesome shear pins.

Cons:

Toro snowblowers are a high priced compared to the same size Craftsman model.  This model retails for $1769.00 with Wise selling it for $1769.00 with included free shipping.  A comparable Craftsman is about $500 less.

Summary:

A good way to tell what the most dependable snowblower is ……. look in the back of the big snow contractor’s pickup.  Most of the time you will see a Toro or an Ariens back there.   Snow contractors are more concerned about dependability and capacity than price.  They move more snow in a night than you probably will in 2 years so they need a machine that is rugged and dependable.

If you want a machine that will last you many years and is designed from the ground up to be rugged and dependable (and you like the color red) this is a good machine for you.
