Pros: If you are looking for a smaller snowblower with all the features of the larger ones this is it.  The Cub Cadet Model 524 has the most features of all the MTD 24 inch models. It comes with Power Steering, 4 way chute control, built in light, and over-sized skid shoes.  I like the stamped side panels.  They are stronger than the flat panel sides as on the Craftsman and won’t rattle and flex as much over time.

The model 524 also has larger tires than the comparable 24 inch Troy-Bilt, Craftsman, and Yard Machines and a larger motor (cc’s) than the Yard Machines or Craftsman.

Cons: Metal Skid Shoes, Cub Cadet Engine. Highest retail price of all 24 inch MTD models. If you are looking for a cheap 24 inch snow thrower this is not the one for you.  Instead look at the Craftsman 179cc Two Stage Snow Thrower Model 88955 .

Summary: I like this snow thrower.  It has the most features of all the MTD 24 inch models.  If you are comparing prices to other 24 inch snowblowers remember the Cub Cadet Model 524 has power steering, remote chute control, large metal skid plates, larger tires, and a built in light.  These are worth about $130 more than the basic Yardman or Craftsman 24 inch snow thrower.
