Snow! No one wants to talk about snow in July!  But Sears has made a change this year that makes looking at snow blowers this early in the year worth your time. There are a few changes for the model year and one important announcement!

The snowblower line is essentially the same as last year with a few minor changes.  The 21 inch manual start blower, and the 28 inch snowblower are gone.  Craftsman is not replacing the 21 inch but has added a 27 inch Snapper and a 28 inch MTD to compliment the Craftsman line.  The model numbers are the same for most models as last year so the good, dependable machines are back.

The Announcement First!

Announcing! 12 and 16 Week Layaway Contracts available on snowblowers over $400!

That’s right!  Sears customers have told them over and over that they love the layaway program during these hard economic times.  Sears asked for suggestions to improve the program and two major suggestions stood out.

“I wish I had longer contracts, it would help me when doing Christmas shopping.”

“A longer contract would help me with cash flow – I could pay it off early or if I needed to take the payments all the way to the end of the contract”

Sears Layaway listened and now offers an 8 week program on any purchase, a 12 week program on any purchase over $400 and a 16 week layaway program for snowblowers over $400. (the optional Repair Agreement can be included in the Layaway purchase)

Duration: 16 weeks (can pay off early) Initiation Fee: $15. Cancellation Fee: $30. Down Payment: $30 or 20%. Payment Frequency: Bi-Weekly. Payment Amount: 12.5% of balance due after the down payment is made. Cancellation (Grace Period) 7 days.

Again this year the Craftsman 88957 will be the most popular.  It is a good, value-priced snow blower with electric start, a decent motor, poly skid-shoes, and a convenient 24 inch size.  For most of us with a two-car suburban drive this is all the snow thrower we need.

Model 88830

The Craftsman 88830 continues to be my favorite Craftsman snow thrower.  It’s a little big for my 2 car, 60 foot drive but I really like the features and the price.  It is a heavy duty machine capable of moving a lot of snow fast.  If you have a larger driveway and get heavy snows seriously look at this snowblower over all others.  It is one of the best values on the market today.

The Craftsman 88835 is a high-capacity snow mover!  The large 16 inch impeller will make short work of any snow you get.  The larger capacity will throw the snow farther than any of the less expensive models.  This is a strong machine capable of extreme use.  This snow blower will move snow better than a tractor mounted Craftsman snow thrower.

If you only want a single stage for clearing decks, patios and driveways of light snow this electric start snow thrower will work well for you.  It is light enough to carry up steps and powerful enough to move heavy wet snow.

Model 88779

I still hate this snow thrower! It has only one forward speed, it weighted all wrong, has tiny tires and NO reverse.  DO NOT BUY THIS SNOW THROWER FOR YOUR WIFE, MOTHER, OR GRANDMOTHER.  She will hate it!  The only good thing about this blower is it the cheapest two-stage snow blower on the market.   If you feel you can only afford this machine seriously consider using the Sears Layaway program and buy the 88957 or 88691.
