PROS:
I have not had a chance to put my hands on this snowblower so I can only give you a visual review and not the complete review you are used to. In my area Menards carries them but has them on a high shelf. You can’t play with it or get a feel for how it will fit you.
The snowthrower looks big and rugged. The 305 cc, 13.5 gross torque Briggs & Stratton engine will be able to handle the 29 inch snow thrower.
CONS: The snow thrower looks front heavy. It does not look balanced like the Craftsman 250cc 28″ path Two Stage Snow Thrower Model 88690 If you have problems pushing down on heavy objects be sure to play with it before you buy. The John Deere made by Briggs & Stratton is very front heavy.
In my area it is very difficult to get parts for the Brute. The two stores that sell the Brute do no have a good service program and do not have an easy way to get parts for the machine. I would strongly suggest that you spend some time researching the ways you can get parts for it before you buy it. Don’t just take the kid’s (sales associates) word at the Menard’s or WalMart that you can get parts or service. Have the associate SHOW you how.
SUMMARY: The Brute 29″ Snowthrower is very comparable to the Craftsman 250cc 28″ path Two Stage Snow Thrower Model 88690. If you are looking for the lowest price for this size machine you may be able to beat the Sears price at your local Menards or WalMart. If the prices are comparable in your area to the Sears model I would suggest going with the Craftsman 250cc 28″ path Two Stage Snow Thrower Model 88690. You can easily get parts for the Craftsman through SearsPartsDirect and get it serviced by calling 1-800-4MY-HOME.
You can order the Craftsman through this website, pick it up at your local Sears store, or have it delivered to your home. Neither Menard’s or WalMart has the Brute listed on their websites so you will have to go to the store to buy the Brute.
